At long last, I have completed The Middle Child's FFA2/3 quilt top!
I used Kate Conklin's Fussy Cut Fairytales pattern, a lap quilt pattern which I then modified to make twin sized. This is a great pattern as Kate uses a stack and slash method which allows you to do fussy cuts with essentially zero wasted fabric. But it is the floating squares border that really does it for me. It is a bit time consuming, but I think it makes the quilt.
I am not yet sure how to quilt this....Kate's is hand quilted but I am not sure I want to take that on. I think I may wait until my Juki arrives and quilt it on that!
My daughter loves it, and has already requested matching pillows!
Linking up to Sew Modern Monday.

I love the border!!
You are right, the floating squares make the quilt!
Fabulous.
The whole thing is utterly cute but I agree - the floating border makes it a masterpiece. Will you make me one too? Please?
This is one adorable quilt!
Hooray! This looks fantastic! And, yes, a matching pillow is in order.
This is beautiful! What a great way to show off those FFA prints.
Love, love, love! Seriously, that border is so cute!!! What a lucky little girl to have such a beautiful quilt to wrap up in every night, especially since it's made my Mom ;) Smiles~Beth
It's awesome!! I agree; the border totally makes the quilt.
I love it! Kate always writes great patterns and you're right, the border makes the quilt!
Jennifer :)
GREAT choice of pattern for these wonderful fabrics!
So pretty. I love the border too.
Great quilt and I too love the border.
I love it Kristie! Gorgeous :)
It is like you were reading my mind through that entire post. I saw the picture and thought, " Wow that border really makes the quilt." Then I started reading, scrolled back up just to make sure and saw that it was only a finished quilt TOP. "How in the world is she going to quilt that?" Crafty minds think alike. It really really looks amazing. Great work. It makes me want to try a different border like that. Did you see that border somewhere or just make it up as you went along?
Snap! - I have exactly the same quilt top in my 'to do list' carried over from last month. I have to piece a back together and then face the same quilting dilemma...what to do on such a busy top. Stop by if you want to keep tabs on my progress as well.
Oh my that is gorgeous , love it !
Wow. This is awesome! Love the border.
This is absolutely beautiful. The floating squares around the edge is a great touch :)
Love for you to share it at my Linky Party when you get chance - "Made by ME" Wednesdays here: http://www.jaqsstudio.com/2012/04/made-by-me-25-linky-party-and-features.html
