Lucky me = lucky you (a giveaway with Sew Mama Sew)

I think I need to buy a ticket to Vegas. My luck has been fantastic lately! I often enter giveaways and had never won anything. Then, these past few weeks...I have won FOUR (4!!!!) times! I am going to take a minute here to brag a bit......envy alert! (edit- just found out today I won AGAIN! Whoo hooo! Number 5! I need to get a lotto ticket!)

Prize #1- this gorgeous vintage fabric rainbow dress that made The Middle Child squeal with delight, from The Modern Marigold on Etsy, which was a giveaway from Jess at Craftiness is Not Optional:

Prize #2- the fun and festive Oh Christmas Tree pattern by Fresh Poppy Design, which I won when I linked up at Amylouwho for the 100 Quilts for Christmas charity drive.
Prize #3- this may come in handy for the above quilt...a charm pack of Figgy Pudding from Kelli at Kelli's Pieces in celebration of her big wedding day!

Prize #4- some beautiful brown and pink ribbon from Amy at Diary of a Quilter! And today I just found out I won some gorgeous scraps from Elizabeth at Giddy For Paisley. How fun are these little birdies? You can check out the cool bag she made with them here.

So, when I heard that Sew Mama Sew was hosting a Giveaway Day, I thought that would be the perfect way to give back to the Giveaway Karma Gods!!

Here is the giveaway:

1. I have a stack of soft, fuzzy, gorgeous Anna Maria Horner Folksy flannels for ya. Includes 1/3 yard cuts of the 8 prints shown, for a total of almost 3 yards of fabric. Perfect for cuddling over the cold winter! 2. The second part of this giveaway is a charitable donation. I think during this holiday season we all are feeling pretty fortunate about how we live, and all that we have. So, for the winner, I will make a $50(CAN) donation to the charity of your choice. Must be a charity where I am able to donate online, please, to avoid the potential hassle of international cheques.

To enter:

Leave a comment saying what charity you would choose if you won and why- I would love to learn more about the causes that are meaningful to you! Or, tell me something that you are thankful for this holiday season. No need to be a follower, but since I am thankful for my faithful friends, if you are a follower, leave a second comment saying so and you get a second entry.

Giveaway closes at 9 p.m. central standard time on Friday, December 17 and is open to local and international friends. Good luck everyone!

Love the flannel. Also, how great of you to think about a charity donation. I think I would go with a donation to the American Cancer Society in honor of my mom. Any chance you would go 50/50 and split it with the organization that supports cancer treatment and research in Canada? Thanks again!

Wow, I love the charitable donation part of your giveaway. I've never seen that before! Way to embrace the feeling of the season. I would love to donate to an organization in our area (Durham, NC) called TROSA. They help socially reintegrate folks who, for whatever reason, have fallen out of society. They help folks get off drugs, find affordable housing, provide job training and child care, and a whole host of other local services for our community. The amazing thing is that they are more successful in helping folks stay productive members of society than any other organization or agency in our area. They truly are fantastic and we are lucky to have them here. In fact, I think I'll donate to them anyway!

I would choose World Vision. They are a reputable charity that's doing tons of humanitarian relief all over the world.

This is by far the best giveaway yet! And perfect if I win because this year I've given up Christmas gifts and have asked for donations to my charity water fundraiser instead.

Charity:water is working to bring clean water to the 1 billion people on the planet who lack it... I figure people need clean water way more than I need more stuff (except fabric, of course). www.mycharitywater.org/lisabrideau

I would choose the American Cancer Society. My best friend's husband was diagnosed 3 1/2 yrs ago with Non-hodgeskin's Lymphoma. He was doing great until recently and goes tomorrow to have a swollen lymph node removed to see if the cancer is back. They have 4 lovely yound daughters and this has been hard on all of them.

What a fantastic giveaway!! I would love to put those fabric swatches to work on the lap quilt I'm working on.

I'd donate to our local women and children's shelter for homeless and abused women and their children (in hiding from abusive spouses and boyfriends). My daughters and I like to put together "birthday parties in a box" for the kid's at the shelter, it's the only way they get to celebrate their special days and that's what childhood is all about. : )

I used to work for the VFW in Wyoming (#10056) and they have a scholarship fund that they give money to any local college student that applies for the scholarship. All they have to do is apply. I sure do miss working for those men and women. If I won, I'd love for them to have a little more $$ to give to these kids. Thanks for the generous giveaway!

I'm a cat owner and lover and it never ceases to surprise me how cruel people can be to cats so a donation to a cat shelter that is local to you would help out some poor "moggie" that's had a bad time with people.

What an incredible giveaway! You have a beautiful heart. There are so many, many worthy causes and just not enough money. Doctors Without Borders comes to mind first. Thank you so much, I am inspired!

I would love to see a donation go to The Ponheary Ly Foundation in Cambodia because those kids don't have a Christmas. We have stayed with Ponheary and every cent that is donated goes to the kids. Thanks for a chance to win.

lucky you indeed, i'm so loving that rainbow dress!!!!!!!
i would be thrilled to win your giveaway, first because where i live (Portugal) it«s very hrd to find AMH flannel which is pity becuse i love it and the shipping fees to order it online are too much, because flnnel is heavier.
second, i'm a volunteer at a pet rescue organization, i'm very passionate about it, but unfortunately lately i haven't been able to help out as much as before because i«m having a very troubled pregnancy and have to stay in bed for the whole pregnancy :( this organization (SOS Animal) is struggling to open a vet hospital that charges no fees for stray animals, because when we rescue pets and take them to the vet we always end up with huge bills (and never enough money to pay them), so if we had our own hospital not only could we help more, but also everyone else would feel more encourged to save animals because they could take them to our hospital and pay nothing. there are a lot of stray animals and pets that are abandoned just because they get ill or become older or their "owners" decide to move to a smaller house, there are a lot of excuses and no punishment by the law. we strugle to change this mentality and little by little we see the diffrence with the new generations. i hve two dogs of my own, which are my family, so i don't really get it why people do this to animals, they require so little to be happy...
i'm sorry, i'm babbling.
bottom line, great idea to give money to charity!

great giveaway!

in our area, we have a branch of 'feeding america' that sends food home with kids who don't know where their next meal will come from - i would want you to choose something similar in your area.

thanks for your generosity - it's a great example!

My favorite cause is keeping our land beautiful. The National Parks Foundation keeps some of America's most beautiful and unique landscapes safe from developers and land abusers. They keep this amazing land safe for future generations. Thanks for the totally amazing and generous giveaway!

Congrats on your winnings--you wanna pick some lottery numbers for us? :)

The charity I would choose is a local non-profit, The Shadeland Project. They run an after-school program, a bicycle collective and a low-cost thrift store in my hometown, Anderson, IN.

thanks for encouraging us to give back this season!

What a beautiful giveaway! I am giving an education sponsorship to my family for Christmas this year. I would love to give the donation to Unicef to help girls in Afghanistan go to school.

What an amazing giveaway!!! The most generous by far!

The charity I would choose is a local group called FOSCCA. It stands for Friends of Santa Cruz County Animals. They're an amazing group that uses the donations to help provide medical support for animals at the animal shelters as well as low-income families in Santa Cruz county (California). They have benefited so many animals and families, especially in these harsh economic times! And they have an online donation form. :)

I'm thankful for my family this holiday season - they've been really helpful to me this year (and always).

I would need to do a bit of research to choose a charity if I won, because most of the groups I donate to are small and local. I have one international organization in mind that might accept online donations, and otherwise I'd look for one that promoted environmental protection or literacy.

I would donate to an animal welfare charity, too. My friend Kate in Philly does a lot for the no-kill shelters there and I"d make a donation to one of them.

St. Baldwicks foundation to fight childhood cancers. My brother and his firefighting crew shave their heads in a fundraiser every year for this charity, even the women! I also donate because I hate to see children and their families suffering from this disease.

What a wonderful giveaway! I would choose the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation...my brother was diagnosed when he was 14 and they are getting closer to cure every day!

The flannels are lovely!
The charity closest to my heart is Mother Bear Project. The collect bears to send to children affected by hiv/aids. They also collect money to help fund the transportation of said bears. It is meaningful because my daughter loves bears more than anything. Every time I knit one we have long talks about children who might not have any toys or houses or food (mind you, she is 5, so not super in depth).

Very generous! I would like the money to go to AAQI, the Alzheimers Art Quilt Initiative. My aunt is suffering with this awful disease and AAQI provides a way we can all help by using our skills, even if we do not have cash at the ready. But I'm sure they will love the cash! lol All proceeds go to Alzheimers research.
Hugs,
Kerry

Hi, what a fantastic giveaway! I love that you are giving to charity with this one - brilliant. :-)

If I happened to win, I'd suggest you go and donate $25 each to two people via Kiva (kiva.org). They do micro lending, and you should choose a couple of women who are working at making a living using textiles, since this is all about the craftiness. :-)

Have a lovely Christmas!

What a lovely giveaway and I love your charity donation idea. My charity choice would be an Irish charity, the Children's Sunshine Home/LauraLynn house www.sunshinehome.ie which is the first charity offering hospice care to children in Ireland, a much needed service. Thankfully I have never needed a service like this myself but am conscious that other families are not as lucky.

I hope I get my comment in in time. I love the fabric and have been looking for some nice flannel prints to make a quilted scarf. These'd be perfect. I also have a charity in mind.
Thanks! kristie_keely(at)yahoo(dot)com
