My quilts have been accumulating, and generally they have sat in a big old pile in the end of our couch in our family room. I have been contemplating how to store them. I wanted them to be displayed, without talking over the house and to ATTEMPT to make them look tidy (the "pile" never quite stayed that way!). So, the other day I made a trip to Home Sense....man, I love that store. Basically a big Winners/ TJ Maxx full of discounted home furnishings (drool). Being across the city, I don't make it there often, but this time, I hit the jackpot and found, among other things, the perfect home for my quilts!
A large rustic looking wooden sideboard, with glass doors to show off the colors of my quilts. And PLENTY of room for more :)
This thing is a tank....was quite comical to anyone watching us get it into our house. Don't think we will ever be able to move it from this spot. I like how it fills in this wall, too. I also got the blue basket there. And no, my family couldn't turn off hockey for one second while I snapped the photos!
Otherwise, it has been a week of doing "have to" instead of "want to" projects. No real quilting or knitting to report. And today, it continues, with this haphazard pile....tax time! How is it that my dog always wants to lie down in the midst of whatever I am trying to organize?
A crazy thing to note- it seems spring has hit Winnipeg much earlier than normal. It was my husband's birthday over the weekend, and while we normally celebrate it surrounded by snow, temperatures soared into the mid 20s (about 75F), and everyone was out in t-shirts and flip flops. Unbelievable!
We die-hard "Winterpeggers" know that an April snow storm is never out of the question, so I feel like I am enjoying the sunshine, all the while looking over my shoulder wondering what punishment lies in wait in payback for this treat! In the meantime, I plan to take time to enjoy :)

Awww. Winterpeg. So true - that always happened to us in Toronto too. Bizarrely, Vancouver has had unseasonably *cold* weather. Like, hail yesterday! Ugh.
You won't be surprised to know I love winners and Home Sense. There's a Winners 2.5 blocks from our home. Dangerous.
Oh.... I am so jealous of your new quilt house ;) It is gorgeous!!!! Now, hurry up and finish those taxes so you can have some crafty fun!!!
I like your new piece of furniture! It looks great with all the quilts in it.
This may be a first - I am jealous of your weather. We are in the cold and have flurries here and there all of March. Hoping the warm weather comes soon!
I’m drooling over the quilt cabinet. It’s beautiful. I want one !
Enjoy the gorgeous weather. We’re about to hit the cruddy weather here and I need to live vicariously through someone who is enjoying sunshine!
So perfect for displaying your lovely quilts. I seem to give all the quilts I make away so we don't have that problem but that is going to change this year, starting with my DP quilt ;) We also have been hit with Spring weather early. Hopefully it's not a sign of Summer will bring! Smiles~Beth
beautiful! I am also enjoying the warm weather in Ga, absolutely gorgeous
Perfect quilt house! I'm a little jealous.
That is an awesome piece of furniture! I desperately need a quilt house - or I should start giving away more quilts.
Good luck with the taxes! (hope they end soon. ;)
What a gorgeous way to display your quilts and yet keep them a little bit orderly. I love that hockey is on in the background. So Canadian, warm quilts and hockey. What is better? hehehe
I love this! I want something similar....someday. :)
I want a cabinet just like that one for my foyer. I've been hunting for just the right one for almost a year now.
Perfect cabinet to display your serious stash of quilts!!!!
Ooh, love the new sideboard!
What a lovely, useful piece of furniture.
