life is good.

Had a very productive day yesterday! Got both my personal and work taxes done, itemized, and ready to ship out to pay some ungodly sum....

....even had an extra hour to spare. Guess what? Spent it sewing! I had finished off the rest of the blocks for my FFA quilt, so I arranged them and got the rows sewn up. On my way! Just have to sew the rows together and add my fancy border :)

Then I got excited by Jennifer's post about her new sewing machine purchase. So excited that I decided to buy one myself. You read that right! I have been sewing on a cheap Kenmore since I started quilting, and have been reading reviews about different machines. So, last night I decided to take the plunge and buy one. At 60% off, I couldn't resist! It is the Juki TL-2010Q. It has a huge throat so I will finally be able to quilt my quilts without a struggle, plus an auxiliary table to spread them out, a knee lift, excellent tension control and speed control, a needle stop position, automatic thread trimmer and needle threader....basically a million features I never even dreamed of! After having a taste of sewing on a decent machine while at Sewing Summit (they were supplied with some wonderful Baby Locks), I am really excited to have a true quilting machine of my own! Now I just have to wait patiently for it to arrive, and hope there are no major hold ups (or fees) at the border! Do you have a Juki or have you tried one before? I would love to hear about your experiences!
And tonight, I have the treat of being able to spend the evening quilting with a friend. Kathy is the one who got me into quilting a couple years back, and it has been about as long since we have managed to arrange a quilt night! Can't wait to spend time doing something I love with a good friend :) Life is good! Hope you are all having a wonderful day as well!

Hi! You are going to LOVE that sewing machine. My sweet hubby bought me a Juki 2010Q for Christmas and it has made such a difference in my sewing! You will especially love the knee lever and thread cutter. My favorite part...this machine is HEAVY! It is so stable to use while free motion quilting. ENJOY!!!

I bet it feels great to get those nasty taxes out of the way. I can't get over how stinkin' cute that quilt is! If only I had a daughter ;) Yay for a new sewing machine! I have a Janome and I love it but that Juki looks awesome. Have fun! Smiles~Beth

Congrats on your new machine! My friend recently bough the same one, and I've been itching to get one too. I have a great Pfaff for pieceing, but I need one for quilting. You'll write a review, right? (And love those FFA blocks too!)

May I ask what the 60% off price was? I went to the link you provided and don't see it priced out...I'm on the curious side since I sew on a simple brother machine and have talked about getting a 'real' machine eventually. Thanks!!

Oooh fancy! I am very envious of that gorgeous large space for FMQ. My Bernina is lovely but very small in that regard.

Love the quilt, very pretty :). I'm jealous of the Juki, I like my Babylock, but it's no quilting queen!

I visit your blog and two happy things happen at once, I found your lovely blog by chance, I joined to follow and became your 1000 follower. Congratulations on having so many.

The quilt looks beautiful I look forward to seeing it finished. I haven't heard of this make of sewing machine here in the UK. I have a Toyota quilting machine and a Creative 9000 computerised machine, I love them both. I haven't tried FMQ yet but hope to soon. Enjoy your new friend :o)

Holy crap, that machine looks awesome! I am potentially in the market for something nicer than what I have, I'll look forward to hearing how it works out for you.

And love how the quilt is looking, that is going to be gorgeous!

I bought the Juki 2010 several months ago sight unseen and based on lots of quilting blogs that I had read. It is great, I love the knee lift and especially the automatic thread cutter. It saves time and a lot of thread!
When doing freemotion I found it works just as well with the feed-dogs up and the stitch length set to 0. You can experiment with that.

I have this machine and LOVE IT!!! It does not have all the fancy stitches... But i also have a machine that does, and i never use them. I love the simplicity of this machine, and as one reader said, it's HEAVY - but a good heavy duty!! LOVE LOVE LOVE this machine, i hope you do too... :)
