Well, I am TRYING to not leave all my Christmas crafting to the last minute this year, and Shay is making me feel inadequate with her Elf-like production, so I started by knitting a hat as a Christmas gift for a good friend who loves purple (and who usually doesn't read this blog!).
This was such a fun and quick knit after the hours spent toiling away on The Middle Child's sweater! I used the Autumn pattern by Jane Richmond, and used just one skein of Malabrigo chunky yarn in cuarzo to do the job. Man, this is the softest yarn I have ever touched! It is fantastic. I have a second skein to make a matching pair of mittens- I am even writing my first knitting pattern!
Anyways, I got his hat done in a weekend, and love it. May have to order another skein to make one for me ;)
I know, I know- you want to see some sewing outta me! Frankie says Relax....I got some coming down the pipe, Peeps! But the knitting has been an awesome summer project that has been easily portable to the great outdoors...after all, I want to enjoy summer before "toque" weather arrives!

Holy stink!! That's so pretty
I'm so jealous that you have a Christmas present done already!!! I've been missing knitting this summer. It was just too hot. The hat turned out beautiful. Your friend is going to love it!!!!

LOVE that hat. The colour is just gorgeous too. Whooooooo Hooooooo on finishing a Christmas gift - in August!
Pfttttt...now I'm under pressure to keep producing since you outed me. Thanks. I must say not much got done this week! I was busy avoiding the FD quilt and that kind of avoidance takes a lot of effort.
That does look soft. And the subtle variations in colour are lovely.
I have a few Christmas gifts started, but nothing finished yet.
1. I love it when you speak Canadian. :)
2. You wrote "Frankie says Relax". I laughed and spit water on my computer screen. So thanks for that. ;)
First of all, I'm super impressed you already have Christmas gifts finished!! Second, that hat is adorable. I think you need one for yourself! And, I may have gone right over to that etsy shop for the pattern... I have a whole bin of malabrigo languishing in my stash waiting to be loved, and it's been far too long since I've knit something! Thanks for the inspiration :)
