Blech.

Finished up a new quilt top, but it is not my favorite.....

Liked the pattern. LOVED the fabric line (Children at Play) and I even added some more of my favorites. But put it all together, and it didn't do much for me. It seemed kind of drab. So, I bought some more fabric while at Sewing Summit and thought I would add bolder borders and bring it up to double bed size. So now it is just an EXPENSIVE quilt top that I still don't love!

Ah well, it is just destined for the guest bed in my craft room, where I can see it and brood over it every day, lol! I am going to ship this puppy off to Jenny to quilt so hopefully she can turn things around and make me love it (no pressure or anything, Jenny.....). I have never had a quilt long armed before! But a double size (85" x 100") is beyond what my little machine can handle, so I am excited to try farming out the quilting, which is normally my least favorite step anyhow. And it will be good for me to be separated from this one for awhile! I know it is in good hands with Jenny, I have been crushing on her work since I found her via the Blogger's Quilt Festival last spring. Speaking of which- the fall festival starts up on October 28, so get busy, people!

What a shame you don't love it. It should be stunning as you say; I'm sure it'll be a grower!

I'm sure you'll fall in love with it once it is quilted. It is very pretty. If it still feels kind of drab for you (how could you even think that? it looks so fresh!) you could pop a colorful button in the center of each pinwheel. If you still don't love it your only other reasonable option is to have a super duper quilt giveaway and let me win it LOL!

I think I just don't understand quilting, which is why I am hovering at some quilting blogs, to try to figure this out. I think this quilt is amazing and beautiful - I don't see blech. If you bind it with the dark pink (red? can't tell from the photo) I can see it really popping. What makes a quilt blech? How can you even make a quilt wrong? It makes me a little afraid to make them since there seems to be specific rights and wrongs - I remain mystified.
Blessings,
Patti

I'm hoping that you fall in love with this after it's quilted. Otherwise I agree with the poster above, you could host a giveaway and I'll take it!

Sorry you don't love it though! I hate to think of the time and expense you put into it to not love it.

It really is a cute quilt!
I would add a border between the two pink borders, using a blue to pull out the blue in your blocks. That might un-bleh it??

I adore it! I bet you'll love it after it is quilted and bound :)

Well...I do think it's very pretty. It doesn't look very "you." I know what you mean--we spend so much time and money on these quilts--every one needs to be our favorite! It's a lofty goal. :)

Oh, what a pain! I hope you love it more after the quilting's done!

I laughed out loud at You saying now it's just an expensive quilt top. And even more now that you have to pay for shipping and quilting.
Maybe a Christmas present?

As a professional quilter, I can attest to the high likelihood tht you will like it considerably more after quilting. The right quilter will bring a top to life!

I happen to think it looks like the cover of a quilt pattern - it's lovely! Like everyone else, I hope the quilting will put this quilt on your good side! I couldn't tell from the photo how big it was, wow, 100" is a behemoth!
